Day: 1
A bilingual representative will meet you up at the Juan Santamaria International Airport and bring you to Hotel Kekoldi in San Jose city centre, a charming, smaller hotel with a secluded garden where you will spend the first three nights. The airport transfer takes about 25 min. The evening is free for you to explore the San Jose nightlife or spend it relaxing and fine-dining in one of the local restaurants close by.
Day: 2
The 5 in 1 Tour starts at around 6:30 am. You will see coffee plantations, volcanoes, a cloud forest, jungles, the Costa Rican countryside, the La Paz Waterfall, and the largest butterfly garden in Costa Rica; you take a jungle river safari on the Sarapiqui River and much more. A coffee farm is the first stop where you can take a typical breakfast. A pleasant journey takes you through mountains, coffee fields and strawberry farms. Poas Volcano is one of the most spectacular in Costa Rica, about 8800 feet high, with a main crater of 1 mile diameter, the base filled with hot water. You can observe the fumaroles inside the crater. A 20 minute walk, amongst these
picturesque surroundings, will bring you to the second crater, which is now a beautiful lagoon. The slopes of Poas are covered with coniferous or cloud forest or grassland. The beautiful “La Paz” waterfall is just waiting to have its photo taken; there are even three more waterfalls. The next stop is the famous "Butterfly Garden", the largest butterfly observatory in the world! Learn with a detailed explanation of lifespan of a butterfly. Look and be close to this beautiful
creature. Relax walking through an amazing hummingbird garden, before enjoying a delicious buffet lunch.
Let's go to “Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí”, passing through plantations of pineapple, yucca, coconut and heart of palm, to take a boat and drift down the Sarapiquí River. Take a look at the sloths, howler monkeys, crocodiles and toucans. Our guide will enlighten about the unique lifestyle of the friendly people who live alongside the river. At the end of the trip, let’s get back to San José, passing through the Braulio Carrillo National Park, the second largest national park in Costa Rica, a spectacular mix of rain forest and cloud forest. Breakfast and lunch are included. Tour duration is 11 hours.
Day: 3
The Arenal one day tour starts at around 9:00 a.m. See the unique active volcano and its fireworks! You can feel and hear when it erupts. On your way to Arenal you will travel up the central volcanic mountains and go through a few nice little towns; in Grecia you are going to visit the church which is made of metal. Sarchi is famous for the painted oxcarts, a tradition having lasted for over a century. There are several large souvenir shops where you can buy some gifts. Lunch will be served in a typical Costa Rican restaurant. At the Tabacón resort, you will have the chance to bathe in the hot volcanic springs and rivers. This is definitely one of the many highlights of the tour. Later dinner will be available at Tabacón. After sunset you can see the eruptions of the volcano, glowing rocks and lava being catapulted from the volcano, you can feel the vibrations of the ground and hear the distant rumbling. However there is no guarantee that the night will be cloudless. Tour duration is eleven hours. Lunch and dinner are included. In the evening the bus will drop you off in one of the most beautiful hotels in La Fortuna to spend your night at Arenal Volcano Inn (or similar) enjoying the Arenal at night.
Day: 4
Horse back riding, car trip, and short boat trip will transport you to the Cloud Forest Lodge in Monteverde located in the heart of the mountains and the virgin nature. Covering an area of over 33 sq. miles, it is the largest artificial lake in Central America and it is used to provide electricity by hydropower. The size and beauty are impressive. After you are settled into your new quarters, you have a free afternoon to relax, go to the beach, or go exploring.
Day: 5
Adventure is waiting for you, a combination of 6 suspension bridges and platforms built in the cloud forest will allow you to explore the forest canopy in a safe and easy way from above up to the height of 138 feet. “Skywalk” will give you the opportunity to see the forest from a different perspective which starts with a 1,5 mile walk on the ground through the forest and takes you up to explore the trees’ tops. After the Skywalk comes The Original Canopy Tour. This tour offers all you adventure lovers the thrilling opportunity of going into the deep forest and reaches incredible heights on the tree tops. A quiet night awaits you in your idyllic hotel. The cloud forest of Monteverde has a humidity of almost 100% throughout the year. The humid north-easterly winds coming from the Atlantic Ocean condense and envelop the forest in a mellow mist. Vegetation is the attraction and in amongst the vegetation lives the Quetzal, “god’s bird“ and many other animals. Colibris are also plentiful. The area is easily accessible by marked hiking trails.
Day: 6
After your breakfast and a little rest, a shuttle bus will take you to Hotel Dorado Mojado, Divisamar (or similar) in Manuel Antonio, minutes walking from the famous Manuel Antonio National Park at the pacific coast where you are going to stay for the following 5 nights. After your check in at your room, you have a free afternoon to relax, go to the beach or go exploring.
Day: 7
Free day, you can spend your time enjoying the beautiful beaches of Manuel Antonio or visit the national park. At 682 hectares, the park is relatively small, however it epitomizes everything tourists flock to Costa Rica to see: stunning beaches, a magnificent setting with islands offshore, lush rainforest laced with a network of easy to walk trails, and wildlife galore. There is good chance that you will see monkeys (howler, white faced, and possibly squirrel monkeys), sloths, and coatimundis. Scarlet macaws do frequent the area however you may need a bit of luck to see them. The trail that winds around Punta Catedral offers some spectacular views.
Day: 8
Enjoy an optional tour from one of our 12 available tours to choose from. Later in the day, enjoy more relaxing free time or activities of your choice.

Day: 11
Free Time. Relax at the beach, go hiking, swimming, fishing, diving or do water sports! Take the shuttle bus back to San José at 12:30 p.m. to spend your last night at Hotel Kekoldi. After you are checked in to your room you have a free afternoon to relax, go to shopping or exploring the San Jose night life.
Day: 12
Depart from San José accompanied by your bilingual naturalist guide. Driving first past coffee plantations, we´ll head into the mountains of Braulio Carrillo National Park, where steep slopes are covered with thick cloud forest and beautiful waterfalls can be seen from the road. That magnificent 46,000 hectare park is one of Costa Rica’s largest, home to three kinds of monkeys, tapirs, 557 bird species and more than 4000 different species of plants. Your tour guide will identify some of that flora and fauna. Just after Braulio Carrillo National Park, we stop for a typical Costa Rican breakfast, complete with fresh fruit, coffee, eggs and the popular "gallo pinto". We later abandon our bus and embark on the most exciting part of this tour: The boat trip into the jungle on the Caribbean Canals to the world famous Tortuguero National Park. Covering 1.800 hectares, Tortuguero National Park in one of the most important nesting sites for Chelonia midas, the green sea turtle, whereas its forests and waterways are home for such endangered mammals as sloths, monkeys, agoutis, coati mundis and manatees. There are also abundant birds, such as toucans, trogons, egrets, herons and anbingas, as well as crocodiles, turtles and countless colorfull butterflies, including the beautiful blue morpho and the boat trip offers a chance to see many of these rare animals up close. We will enjoy a hearty typical lunch to please the hungriest of appetites. We shall arrive and check in at the hotel at around 2 pm. In the afternoon your tour guide will take you to explore theTortuguero National Park and a walk around Tortuguero Town. Back at the hotel you will have time to relax before dinner which will be served at 7:00 pm. After dinner, your tour guide will explain the next activity, the "night tour", which consist of a boat trip to Tortuguero National Park to observe the nesting of the Giant Green Sea Turtle (only from July to October).
Day: 13
Breakfast; accompanied by our guide, we will board our boat to the world famous Tortuguero National Park. As the boat slowly cruises through the canals, we will have chance to observe a great variety of animals such as monkeys, iguanas, egrets, etc. Later follows lunch and a free afternoon to relax or have a walk around the hotel areas. After Dinner there is a turtle tour on offer (from July to October only).
Day: 14
Breakfast; tour to a different secondary canal. Return to the lodge and checkout. Depar from the lodge at around 11 am. Lunch followed by a visit to the south end of the park including a walk in the rain forest and a boat tour to the California River to look for even more wild life. Return to San Jose at 7:30 pm and check in to Hotel Kekoldi for the last night.
